Alfred Soto: A “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” for the Jason Aldean generation, which means it’s obvious and boasts no corners. It’s as natural as the CCR song though: no way do I think Zac Brown’s faking it.

Patrick St. Michel: This is the most boring advertisement for small-town America I’ve heard in quite some time.

Brad Shoup: It was pretty exciting for a minute when all these country dudes were like fuck this, I’m going to community college but for real, people live in small towns and they make it work just fine. Love the two-note solo and the haphazard dudes chipping in, this is like the Mellencamp of my dreams.

Anthony Easton: This self-satisfied complacency and refusal for nuance and growth is country music at its worst — especially the overly formal coda, which suggests they have been spending too much time with Dave Grohl.
[3]

Thomas Inskeep: Country for Foo Fighters fans. Really.
[2]

Micha Cavaseno: We got some chunks of beardy trad values here, mediocre singing, whatever whatever rock arrangement. Why is this kind of music so obsessed with trying to encourage with settling with what you have? Is it some kind of ploy to encourage you that you shouldn’t expect better from these kinds of songs?

Katherine St Asaph: If I can try not to read menace into “everything I need, and nothing that I don’t” (the little hint of an insistent sneer in the outro makes it harder), this is perfectly nice sun-dappled suburban Southern highway nostalgia, and pretty convincing while it lasts that that’s all you’ll want.
