His mum still says he’ll grow into it…

Alfred Soto: Slightly sexy take-me-back whose charm comes from the basso voices complementing the synth throbs — suitable for bump ‘n’ grind — and the honesty of a hook as basic as “Que rico cuando chingamo’!”

Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: The synth pad chords on the intro here hint at the uplifting and wistful, a Latin trap homily on lost love. Once the drums come in, that feeling fades, and it’s a pretty standard Bad Bunny song. But the textures at work, the slyness of Sech’s voice vs the hammer of the leading man’s performance, make “Ignorantes” into something compelling. It’s not the most interesting song on YHLQMDLG, but it’s the one that hits with the most emotional weight.

Kylo Nocom: Unsure of why Bad Bunny so often insists on Drake-onian mode when we all know he’s capable of cooler and more gorgeous things. Nothing wrong with how these guys are longing for a fuck, but surely they don’t have to sound so miserable.

Thomas Inskeep: I’ve grown to love Bad Bunny’s sad-boy tone, whether singing or rapping, and it’s in full flower on this “why did we break up?” plea. As for the key line, “I know that sometimes we fight, that’s normal/But how good it is when we fuck,” well, that’s exactly (probably) why I was with my ex as long as I was, ugh — and I bet he loves this song. But my god, the sound of this is such perfection. Panama’s Sech, one of 2019’s international breakouts, sounds ideal against Bunny; the contrast is immaculate. And the easygoing reggaetón bump is just so. “Ignorantes” is the whole package, and one of the highlights from Bunny’s YHLQMDLG album.

Wayne Weizhen Zhang: At this point, I’m so fully caught in Bad Bunny’s spell that these hits all kind of blur into one another. That being said, “Ignorantes” is another fine addition to his canon, feeling like an underwater dream so vivid and hypnotising that you forget to come up for air.

Nortey Dowuona: Smoky cotton candy synths drizzle down on Sech and Bad Bunny as a pulsing bass blob cycles around them with spinning drums for wheels. A synth scurries past, with the bass chasing it slowly. Sech and Bad Bunny watch with concern; at points, they slide into the path of the bass to stop it so the synth can gather up uncrushed nuts and scurry back up the tree, leaving the bass to cycle around it. Sech throws a sheet over the bass’s eyes and leads it off to get some churros, while Bad Bunny helps the synth come down and gather more nuts. The synth eventually heads back up and says bye to Bad Bunny, while Sech returns, out of breath and scared, since the bass has run away, leaving the bike behind.
