Anthony Easton: Those slurred, slightly drunk, depressed horns, displacing and decentering the vocals, hold the whole project past where it ordinarily would have been.

David Sheffieck: Any song that uses steel drums – the official instrument of summer – this well gets bonus points. “Ven” doesn’t need them, though, the vocals and brass delivering a laid-back party vibe that’s perfectly suited for every time you hit the beach – or just every time you need to feel like you’re there.

Cédric Le Merrer: A track that’s always one impasionned performer away from turning into anepic victory chant, but keeps both feet firmly on the ground. Alfred Soto: That sound? Steel drums sticking in my craw.

Will Adams: You know what’s fucked up? If you swapped out the current vocals with those of a pitchy, shouty indie dude, this would probably top the Alternative chart.

Brad Shoup: The steel pan bangs, but I dunno if it can carry a song. Those horns are a life raft, then, bright but cool, just like Bastida and Venegas.
