Patrick St. Michel: Fun fact: the band’s name is actually pronounced like “one o’clock,” which was the time the members of the group normally met to practice. This tidbit is far more interesting than anything happening on “Deeper Deeper,” an alright song thanks to its aggressive nature and the weird little touches (that female voice that pops up at one point). Still, this mostly sounds like a so-so imitation of way better J-Rock outfits like 9mm Parabellum Bullet and Thee Michelle Gun Elephant mixed with the forever-popular-in-Japan sounds of mid-2000s American modern rock.

Iain Mew: One OK Rock pull off a surprising number of twists and turns with a relatively limited palette, switching rapidly between different types of poised electro-rock and heavy riffing before the plunge into the emo chorus and a charge into a whole different bass-led mode after that. Not just one but many OK rocks you could say, though that would sell short a chorus which Fall Out Boy would surely be proud of.

Ian Mathers: This sounds exactly like a ton of anonymous, interchangeable bands that clogged 102.1 (“The Edge”) when I was in high school and university; well, it’s a little more tuneful and somehow more likeable than a lot of that. So good for them for nailing their chosen aesthetic pretty squarely. But there’s a reason that these days 102.1 (“The Edge!”) plays this now instead, and nothing about “Deeper Deeper” is compelling enough to wish those days were here again. I admit that I can’t stop holding my suspicion that most of their fans are the kind of people who insist that (for example) One Direction and Beyonce “aren’t real music” against them.
