Tainy, Anuel AA & Ozuna – Adicto

January 29, 2014

OK, “pop, to two decimal places,” but we still say you can count this score on one hand…

[4.33]

Alfred Soto: Is everyone on Xanax? I get mixing the vocals a bit behind the beat, but it’s as if they’re sleeping behind the speakers.

Will Adams: Tainy’s warm production is as much an asset as it was on his massive Bomba Estéreo remix, but neither Anuel AA nor Ozuna provide a performance that fits it. The synth chords pulse, the drums groove, but they’re somnolent.

Hazel Southwell: I’m sure this isn’t authorial intent but this is the absolute ideal sound (warm, immersive, gentle) for settling back into the sofa with a hot drink and the sound of rain outside. If it’s sexy it’s the comforting sexy of your significant other in pyjamas, all lovely, soft flow that the vocal distort can’t stop me enjoying.
[6]

Oliver Maier: A beautifully sluggish slab of reggaeton that doesn’t quite justify its runtime. Too pummelling to leave on in the background, too slow to dance to, too repetitive to just sit with. The shimmering outro could have been the foundation for a great bridge to break up the monotony midway through.
[6]

Alex Clifton: This is decent head-bobbing dance music, but the oom-pah-pahs in the background really make me long for a polka remix.
[5]

Nortey Dowuona: The recent Tainy song that this site covered had J Balvin and Selena Gomez, two at best adequate white Latinx artists, delivering mediocre verses. The synths were warm, fuzzy and worn-out-carpet thin, with additional ones glittering and Gomez making creepy throat-clearing noises all over it, all running on a basic reggaeton drumbeat made off YouTube on the first try. And it sounds like Manu Dibango compared to this slow, limp tripe.
