And we mostly liked this, so there.

Brad Shoup: I guess it’s time to revive my master list of songs referencing other artists. This is great; it’s like a sardonic, electro “Sweet Soul Music”. All I ever want is a little humor, and D’Banj gives me his light PUA act. Plus a beat made for hooting along and some semi-inscrutable Dickens.

Anthony Easton: That initial bounce is like eating jello while jumping on a trampoline. How he states the basic facts from the very front — but then who does not like Beyonce or Rihanna — is perfection in its simplicity.

Alfred Soto: He’s lucky the beat does shake like a bonbon, or, rather, bom-de-bom-bom. Not much else, and there’s almost four minutes of it.

Jonathan Bogart: I might be expected to harbor a grudge against the side that fought mine to a standstill in the opening round of the Pop World Cup two years ago, but D’Banj is too vibrant and funky to do anything but get caught up in his music. If this Kanye-endorsed crossover attempt isn’t as sharp or joyous as his homegrown bangers, there’s still plenty to love about it, from the opening list of women he adores (most of which I do too) to the fact that he sports a top hat and calabash pipe in the video.

Katherine St Asaph: More people should get this, that you should craft your lyrics as much as your groove. That alone can’t make your track huge, but it’ll sure make it chiseled.

Edward Okulicz: Gets into a pleasing groove and doesn’t do much with it; listing his favourite femmes is cute for a few lines but as the basis of entire verses my interest drifted quickly. I wish he’d accessorised his track as well as he does his clothes, to be honest.

Iain Mew: The central melody does built up a little with added voices and beats as it goes, but it essentially does little more than go round in small circles throughout. The view from this carousel stays exciting as long as D’Banj keeps up with the lyrics. Once he gets tired into the repetition as well it gets a bit dizzying, but someone pulls the plug just in time.
