Maybe we can muster up some enthusiasm for this guy?

Alfred Soto: Amiable and surefooted — two descriptors I haven’t used about Marc Antony, like, ever. He isn’t up to the lyrical conceit but he sure understands how to respond to background vocals.

Daniel Montesinos-Donaghy: The celestial romance and dramatic drawlings you expect from Anthony are present and accounted for, but there seems to be more of a haze in his performances. There is a slurred insistence of love here, a manic sob for help there. For a vocalist who’s always leaned towards the hammy, he’s growing steadily hammier. This is either cause for alarm or celebration – perhaps we get another “chii-chii!” out of it.

Brad Shoup: When the chintzy crashes hit and Anthony’s voice slides into the ravine, it’s a wonderfully gauche moment. But will it win you to the side of the unimaginative piano comps? The arrangement is so prissy, it’s like he’s being dared to make something — anything — memorable out of the song.

Will Adams: It’s like every element of the song is in a contest to see which can be the most ingratiating.

Katherine St Asaph: I’m pretty sure I made this arrangement in Microsoft Songsmith once.

Jonathan Bradley: His voice strains to keep up with an arrangement that wants to take him places he can’t go. That’s bad news when the chorus hits; a singer whose skin can’t change fast enough.
