Thomas Inskeep: This is so showtune-jazzy (as opposed to Coltrane-jazzy or even Kenny G-jazzy) that someone writing a musical needs to snatch up the rights to this song pronto: it would complement a dance number perfectly, especially thanks to its horns, which sound like something lifted from Kander & Ebb’s Chicago. And like the best showtunes, “Mi Amor Perfecto” is incredibly hummable and catchy. And its title translates as “My Perfect Love”! I mean, c’mon!
