Aaron Bergstrom: Feels a bit like The 1975 trying on a hyperpop costume, but it’s one that seems to fit. Not surprisingly, Charli is the only one who sounds truly at home on this kind of sonic terrain, but she does an admirable job playing genre sherpa for the day trippers. And, just personally, I’m pleasantly surprised that the future of pop music sounds so much like late-period Passion Pit.

Thomas Inskeep: All I hear, basically, is a house piano beat (which I like, in and of itself) and almost three minutes of heavy Auto-Tune (which I loathe). What’s the point of bringing in Charli XCX and Matty Healy if you’re gonna soak their vocals to the point of near-anonymity?

Tobi Tella: Controlled weirdness, which I guess could be argued as what Charli normally does. But there’s something creative and unexpected about that, compared to this using a regular pop chord progression and adding some chopped up pitched up vocals to make it Electronic.

Jeffrey Brister: Matty and Charli’s voices go together so damn well, I just need a more fleshed out song with these two. “Spinning” suggests several directions it could take, and never picks one.
