Emphasis on the “hell”…

Alfred Soto: But a yawn of a tune.

Micha Cavaseno: The song sounds like it was composed via a game of studio Mad Libs. But I’m throwing one point in for organs because I’m basic.

Will Adams: Some poor songwriting here. The phrases of the chorus run into each other, the melodies accelerate and decelerate unnaturally, and the verses are devoid of harmonic progression. Dustin Lynch’s performance is only half-convincing, but he ends up being the best thing here.

Thomas Inskeep: “Hot Saturday night,” “cab of this truck,” “lips,” “back roads,” etc. Yet something here makes me not hate it; I’m guessing it’s Lynch’s vocal, which almost-kinda-maybe sells it.

Patrick St. Michel: Oh hell yeah, a night of driving and vague promises, sounds fun.

Anthony Easton: Generic and dumb, and hopefully the genre is working on what the implications of this kind of butch nonce means to the rest of the genre.
