Anthony Easton: The dirty secret of punk is how much fun it is, and how lovely it is to fuck to. The whole point of summer jams is too little clothes, and too much motion. Putting this on the bedroom rotation.

Matt Cibula: I enjoy the hyper-spazz of this trackackackackackack; it’s like math-rock plus the Teen-C Revolution equals my heart. Too aimless for greatness, but just anarchic enough for reckless-abdomen-style dancing.

Chris Boeckmann: The guitars! I honestly don’t understand half of what they’re saying, but this sounds like Los Campesinos! minus the whole meta aspect…super fun, super shiny and super fierce. One of the best rock singles I’ve heard this year. Also, the dynamics are positively insane.

Martin Kavka: Why is this song so long? There are nice bits here — for about twenty seconds at a time — but there are also some really naff bits in here, including the last 100 seconds.

Chuck Eddy: Takes too long to get started, then there are some moderately cute fake-prog changes. After that…incoherent energy and hysterical hooting, not entirely arhythmic. Pretty sure At The Drive In and/or Fugazi sounded kinda like this once upon a time (as have scores of justly forgotten strivers since), but hell if I’m gonna go back now and make sure. Gets worse two minutes in (out of four and a half, Jeez), when it slows down to something approaching a trudge.

Martin Skidmore: Two galloping drummers, thrash guitars and yelled vocals, all at high speed, is a good formula. I kept waiting to get excited after the energetic start, but it didn’t go anywhere much. They kept slowing down then speeding up again, for no reason I could spot. I’ll be interested to hear more, though.

Edward Okulicz: Reminds me, in parts, of early Idlewild, when they were shouty, and, um, Funeral For A Friend. I don’t mind these things and I swear my score isn’t a typo.

Iain Mew: There’s a few UK bands springing up doing this kind of noisy, twisty indie-pop-punk lately. For my money Johnny Foreigner are the pick of the bunch as, while they are but a short way from Dananananaykroyd stylistically, they have mastered the fine line between breathlessly energetic and just too loud much better. This teeters into the latter a couple of times but there are still thrills to be had, from the harmonized “Oh! My! God!” yell to the teasing melodic pause before the final assault.

John M. Cunningham: Full-throated post-adolescent screaming isn’t generally my cup of tea, but the hilariously named Dananananaykroyd makes it work with a cheerfully infectious eagerness and an undeniable guitar riff in between the vocal free-for-all. Those who were raised on Dischord Records should find lots to admire here.

Frank Kogan: Kara: The fire, the indie dreamscape, the hardcore punk, all a little strange. But I kind of liked it. It left me confused and sort of happy. Paula: You are really someone who stands out, who is true to who you are as an artist. Simon: What the hell was that? I wouldn’t suggest going to D.C. if I were you. I thought it was absolute indulgent rubbish. Randy: If you could imagine Josef K doing an emocore song! It’s current! It’s young! It’s fresh! It’s hot!
