Joshua Minsoo Kim: Burna Boy’s voice drips something sweet, while J Hus delivers words that are simultaneously too labored over and conversational. When he speaks, I can’t lose myself in the music.

Juana Giaimo: The danceable and sunny instrumental base is unfortunately ruined by rather dull vocals — also, I can quickly think of at least five arguments of why you shouldn’t use guns as a metaphor for sex.

Thomas Inskeep: The sound is alright, UK rap lightened with a bit of Afrobeat (and a chorus vocal from Nigeria’s Burna Boy, seemingly the UK’s favorite African hook singer of the moment), but why all the bullshit gun talk, J Hus? Yawn.

Brad Shoup: Just keep the balance between girls and guns, Burna says on his languid hook. J Hus tries to balance two excesses: he’s so hard-up for metaphors he closes a verse by busting too quick. The track sides against firepower, preferring a springtime stroll with well-spaced steel pan and breezy whistling.

Ryo Miyauchi: The Caribbean production makes J Hus’s hip-hop-inspired sex talk feel light and homely as it would on a dancehall song, while Burna Boy in the chorus lays it down even more smooth. I’ve been more sensitive dealing with anything gun-related due to the prevalent violence from said weapon, but I suppose there are worse innuendos to be made in a far more vulgar fashion than the rapper’s one-liners about cocking and loading.

Julian Axelrod: This is not the first song we’ve covered featuring an extended love-as-gun metaphor, nor will it be the last. But it might be the softest, with pillowy horns and whispered synths rounding out the harder edges of J Hus’s stick talk. He sounds more spirited (pun intended) than last album cycle, even if his flirts sound like a bully’s teacher-mandated apology. Burna Boy, on the other hand, sells every word of his majestic refrain. Maybe these two have chemistry, or maybe it’s impossible to sound bad with a hook this good.
