Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: Absolutely a song from a musical inspired by the life and work of Justin Timberlake. But, like, not in a bad way! Unclear if either of these two can sing in any real sense, but the sprechgesang here is charming enough that I can’t care too much.

Nortey Dowuona: James Essien, I am very proud of you. No, not you, Trevor Muzzy, no, not you, Carl Lehman, and especially not you, Jason Cornet. CorbynTzuyu, you did fine. Go home and get some Burger King or something.

Taylor Alatorre: If “APT.” was a thrilling read-out of the moment when text-based flirting turns corporeal, “Blink” is an uncomfortably real depiction of the inverse: a in-person encounter that groans under the weight of learned affectations. Neither party is able to fill the shoes of the impossibly suave roles they’ve chosen, which lends the affair an underdog appeal that nearly offsets the pervading awkwardness. It’s like overhearing a couple on a first date in the booth behind you – part of you can’t resist rooting for them, even as you find yourself questioning every second word choice being made.

Iain Mew: I am probably over-scoring this thanks listening to it next to Jisoo & Zayn, but it’s unexpected and charming. Corbyn Besson of Why Don’t We, a group I only remember thanks to one of their songs scoring lower than 2 on this site, is here to do Justified-era Timberlake with an abundance of enthusiasm. Except instead of an uncredited Vanessa Marquez repeating “talk to me boy”, “Blink” has Tzuyu with equal billing and the narrative power, sounding like she’s simultaneously rolling her eyes at his whole act and intrigued despite herself. That works as a believable enough response to actually sell all of his horny/corny excesses.

Ian Mathers: I don’t like Besson’s performance here at all, but it weirdly feels like him (or someone as annoying as him) is needed to make Tzuyu’s cool rebuke more effective. And her part of the song is pretty good! Oh well.

Dave Moore: I suddenly have the urge to eat seven bars of chocolate and declare that… I do not have any idea how big of an artist Corbyn Besson is.
